"All her life, Henny was surrounded by warnings like these: You're nothing special. Don't expect too much; you might be disappointed if you fail. Respond to compliments like this -- 'It was nothing - anyone could have done it.' These are unwritten rules in Jante's Law - an unspoken code of ethics in Scandinavian-American culture. How this law has ruled the Larson family for four generations is a mystery Henny's been trying to unravel for years. The day she finds her great-grandmother's century-old journals, Henny's life begins to make sense. Will the stories of frontier life, the Depression, drag races, and love in the '60s lead Henny to finally reach for her own passions and get it right with Christopher, the love of her life?"
My current agenda includes a book entitled "My Kids, My Way: Attachment Parenting in an Unattached World"- Which promotes self esteem in parent and encourages them to increase their knowledge before making decisions based on other's beliefs. I can be reached at:

I am a guide at The Mining Co. for the topic of French Cuisine and I feel this is a great learning experience for me to get back into writing. I actually get paid for it so I'm counting it as being published. I have just had my first article accepted at a travel magazine, trips, and it is due for publication in April. It deals with what really happens to your luggage after it's checked in at the airport. My recent experience working for Northwest Airlines provided plenty of juicy material for that one. I really love the way this group shows true concern for everyone here and I can't wait to be more involved in the discussions. I hope to provide some help or encouragement to others as well as snatching all the wonderful inspiring ideas you all share. Nice to meet you all. I enjoyed writing poetry when I was a child and have always liked all things literary. It’s a toss-up as to whether I enjoy reading or writing more. I am blessed with a wonderfully supportive family and husband. They are great at encouraging me to follow my dream of becoming a published writer. My writing interests include articles and essays about parenting, marriage, women’s issues, adoption, ADHD, and mental health. Also, I dabble in poetry and fiction. Recently, I finished taking a few creative-writing classes. I’m
now ready to begin my foray into the real world of big, bad, publishing
J. I’m excited about the prospect of sending my writing out. The
support and camaraderie at MomWriters has been a real blessing. I’m
looking forward to my journey.
We also own, (or do they own us?) Fitz the psycho kitty, Puffy and Slim the cantankerous cockatiels, and Ono, the lone beta-fish. My career as a writer is still in the earliest stages. I have written articles for my old hometown newspaper and multiple ending stories for gigglefish.com, a children’s Internet site. I am currently writing reviews for epinions.com, working on a novel,
as well as writing stories for my son and grandson. My goal as a writer
is to have a picture book published by the end of the year 2000.
I joined the US Army when I was 19, and met my husband in the military. Due to medical reasons, I had to get out and get a "real job". After years of being a temporary, I finally settled into the job I have now. With so much free time on my hands, and every book I owned read over and over, I decided to amuse myself by writing my own stories. I began writing a romance longhand and finished it in 4 weeks. I'm still working on the inspiration to type it into the word processor! My favorite aspect of writing is using my imagination and doing research. I would love to get paid to do research, I guess that would be my dream job (since I have to work). Although I don't have anything in print (yet ;-) ), I will keep banging them out, because I enjoy writing and reading. I also like to do crafts, sewing, quilting, gardening, animals, sunshine
and cold weather. :)
The Unofficial Guide to Childcare http://www.childcare-guide.com My other two books are THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO CANADIAN HISTORY (Prentice Hall Canada, 1997) and THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO CURLING (Prentice Hall Canada, 1998). (Footnote for non-curlers: Curling is that strange sport where people slide rocks down a sheet of ice!) These days, I'm writing a book about juggling work and family. I'm also trying to practice balance in my own life. I've started taking Fridays off so that I can enjoy my one year old and smell the roses. Email me privately at: pageone@kawartha.com
I have a B.A. in English and an M.Ed in English Education (but my husband really deserves that second degree since I couldn't have done it without him). I am the seventh child of a seventh child born in the seventh month, but the only thing really special about that is that I have lots of wonderful siblings (who supply me with fresh writing material every time we get together!) I have been published four times in the local literary magazine (non-paying, but I did win their Fiction Award twice for a total of $100!) I have written two novellas and have amassed over fifty rejection slips (and they keep on coming!). I also have written two children's stories and have just begun submitting those. I am currently working on a novel for Novel Challenge 99. I am thrilled to be a part of Momwriters and look forward to the day
I can finally put faces with the names in my e-mail!
