I homeschool the children during the day and spend my evenings as editor of Writers Exchange E-Publishers, the e-publishing branch of the Writers Exchange Site (a writing resource webpage with an ever-expanding monthly ezine). I also have a book review site: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~pjcsjc/book-review.htm with such a backlog of books that I don't know if I'll ever catch up! I am also contracted to write a book for Roberts Publishing, which I am hoping to complete in the near future. You can email me at: writers@writers-exchange.com
Shanna considers Mommy Tales a rewarding mission. "As moms, we
are constantly taking care of everyone else," she says. "I
hope Mommy Tales will nurture each woman's spirit with inspiring stories,
time-saving tips, and the good humor that comes from being a mom."
Features include an exciting free e-newsletter, discussion group, and
writing contests. Interview opportunities with fellow momwriters and
article submissions are welcomed.
I have always sculpted the written word, from Junior High School news paper columnist to copy editor for a marketing firm, I managed to dabble in the art of writing for as long as I could remember. Over the years I have collected five wonderful children or maybe they collected me! Unfortunately, some of them are time consuming with special attention needed, so I had to forgo outside employment. I tried to play house and forget my writing talent. Yet inside my sleeping author brain, visions of novels danced in my head. Articles formed as though they had always been there. But the only audience was the growing family and the trusted dog. Though I had been an Internet junky since 1993, I never thought of raising the stakes and putting my work onto the net until fairly recently. I formed my own company Diamondstarlite Publishing. I have published articles on parenting from teething to teens, colic to collage. With careful research done in the field of Attention Deficit Disorder and other mental conditions children are afflicted with. I have compiled a fictional novel that is published as an e-book called Internet Hunter. I am a native Californian who was transplanted to Arizona four years ago. I am very active in my community in Mesa. I am the vice president of the Dobson Ranch Safety Committee. On November 6, 1999, I organized a safety fair call "911 Saturday." A huge event that brought police, fire, emergency personnel and equipment as well as security companies together with the public. It was a huge success and it will now be an annual event! I have an online advice site to help parents cope with questions like when to stop breast feeding your children, to when should you let the teen start dating. (Move over Dear Abby... AdviceMom is here!) There is also an Internet marketing e-book in the works called "Tips, Tricks and Secrets to Writing for the Internet" (available spring 2000) With my favorite quote being, "I write, therefore I am" I am determined to never put my creative mind on hiatus again!
Today, I have four children and have given up my career outside the home. I am now a so-called stay-at-home mom, but who's home? Not me! I am too busy maintaining the social lives of my children and enjoying the activities that I only dreamed about while I sat in my office, staring at an overflowing in-basket. I started out writing about parenting issues. Shortly after having a few articles and essays published, I started a home-based human resources consulting business out of my home. In the past, I worked in the human resources field for a decade, ending my career as a Director of Human Resources. I really enjoyed that field and wanted to stay involved in it. I am a member of PIHRA (Professionals in Human Resources Association), which helps me keep up to date with changes in the labor laws. My writing career has now branched out into articles about human resources related topics. One minute I'm writing about breastfeeding past the age of one, and the next minute my fingers are typing an article about a manager's role in a hostile work environment complaint. Hey, there's nothing wrong with a little variety. I am happy and proud to be a part of Momwriters and I have learned
a lot from my online friends.

I'm a single mom with three beautiful daughters, two of whom already know they want to be writers when they grow up. The third daughter can't print more than her name yet, but I'll keep you posted! As well as being a freelance writer, I'm also a part-time student and volunteer Girl Guide leader. All of these elements of my life provide endless material for me to write about! Parenting humor is my first love, closely followed by opinion pieces. I've also toyed with children's fiction, and have an adult novel 'in progress'. Around Momwriters, I'm known as Shelley in SWO. I live in Southwestern Ontario, just a stone's throw from Detroit, Michigan. Living near the border, I have a unique advantage in that I understand the Canadian writer's perspective, but many of my influences are American. I'm a city kid! You can view some of my parenting humor at: (Link not available at this time) I also have a new monthly column about the challenges of being a student mom at http://morethanamom.com. Locally, I write for a neighborhood historical pub called the Walkerville Times http://www.walkervilletimes.com Someday soon, I'd like to break into U.S. print magazines.
"I have found momwriters to be an endless source of inspiration, feedback, and friendship. I look forward to growing together as moms, writers, and friends as we celebrate the challenges and rewards of following our dreams."
I like to write travel articles, family and parenting articles, health and fitness articles and financial articles. I live in Tucson, Arizona with my husband and our Basset Hound, Molly. Sheri Wallace, Writer/Editor - Freelance
First and foremost, I am a wife and mother. I have two wonderful school aged boys and a stepdaughter in her early twenties. I've been with their father for almost twenty years. We live on a lake in Southern Ontario and I consider making a happy home for these people to be my number one role in life. My career roles in life are teacher, writer and small business owner. Before having children I worked as a Systems professional for many years. Now, I teach business admin and computer courses through the local college at night school. I also operate a small office services business from my home. It's been hard to find my niche in my writing life because I love to write such a variety of things. I do a lot of business documentation and write freelance articles on way too many topics. I love poetry. Fiction and non-fiction book ideas chase each other around in my head and several are in different stages of completion. My current writing goal is to focus in on one or two specific areas so that something gets accomplished. I am so much more than these five things. My hobbies include crochet,
cross-stitch and folk art. I love music. I collect happy faces. I love
to dance. I love to read. I love the rain. I love candles and silk and
firelight and flannel. I wear a pendant on a chain around my neck that
says, "Live Love Laugh" which pretty much sums up my life
philosophy.
My work can be seen online at many different sites, including eHow.com, NewHomemaker.com, Babyserv.com and KidsHealth.org. I also write a regular online column on Mediterranean food, wine, travel and lifestyle at Suite101.com. My print work has been published in various magazines and newspapers in Canada, the U.S., and Japan. My writing covers many different topics, including general parenting,
breastfeeding, attachment parenting, travel (especially European travel),
food and wine, crafts and decorating, children's music and literature,
and just about anything else I can come up with!
Currently, Susan is looking for someone to help make her children's manuscript come alive. She loves to write children's stories and to see the excitement on the children's faces as she reads them. Susan believes strongly in following her dreams. That, she points out, is how she got here. Susan loves to hear from her readers, feel free to contact her at SYA90@aol.com
