In addition to being a mom and grandma, Tammy works full-time as a coordinator of education and a technical college in Va. Beach, VA. Here, in addition to overseeing a great group of instructors, she writes boring training manuals and about a zillion just as boring emails to those who will eventually be the recipients of said manuals. To see where she works, click here (Link not available at this time). In the evenings (and often late into the night) Tammy works as an article and story writer. This, she sighs, is what she hopes to do all day and all evening some day ................ Maybe when Nicholas (her youngest at 11) is grown ..........

I have been a free lance artist for over 30 years now, specializing in western and American Indian art. I myself am part Cherokee, though I don't look it because of my Irish grandmother's genetic heritage. From her all my many brothers and sisters ( there are 10 of us ) and I received our varying shades of red hair and our numerous freckles. About 5 years ago, shortly after my fathers death, ideas for books began popping up in my head, so I decided to go with the flow and have been writing ever since. Admittedly, with my painting and writing, and raising a precocious 11 year old rocket scientist, I have little time to myself, but I find I simply MUST read on a daily basis, so sneak some time in for that whenever possible. Though I'm working on four books simultaneously right now, I haven't submitted anything except for a short children's book. Writing seems to fulfill something that my painting, much as I enjoy it, simply didn't. So I'll keep on keepin' on, and submit as much as I can this year. I live in the South, and love it, and write about my childhood in Tennessee, though I have to admit I don't use my own name. WAY too recognizable to my family. I have to admit, I go barefoot as much as possible, and I have what is classified in my family as "tree climbin' toes", which means of course that I spent the greater part of my childhood in the tops of trees. Just a good ole country girl.
The first four books in her series (Goldfish Don't Take Bubble Baths, Lizards Don't Wear Lip Gloss, Piglets Don't Watch Television and Hamsters Don't Glow in the Dark) are available in Canada ($6.95), the US ($5.95), Australia and New Zealand. Book number 5, Ants Don't Catch Flying Saucers, will be released September 2001. To learn more about the author and the series, see Trina's personal webpage at www.geocities.com/atwiebe/.
