Momwriters everywhere getting together.

Momwriters from Michigan and Canada gathered in Frankenmuth in December 2001.

7 Momwriters gathered for fun, food and shopping... uhhhhhhhhhh Dumpster Diving.

"Dumpster diving is the art of gleaning useable thing froms the trash, particularly commercial/retail and residential/apt. complext dumpsters. Another version of this is called "curb crawling" -- ie: going out in search of goodies on curbs and alleys.

It's a lot less icky than you might think -- and it's a lot more fun than you can possibly imagine. I've been a diver for about 3 years -- and a curb crawler my entire life. I discovered the bounty of the dumpsters a few years ago...when I came across the diving board on AOL -- in the tightwads message board. (Keyword: tightwads, I think -- I haven't been on AOL in a long time) I found this group of people talking about all of these amazing things they found in the trash -- new and unused items -- in perfectly good condition...that had been tossed because stores didn't have the space for them...or they had been returned or discontinued."
