{All About MomWriters}
{MomWriters Write} Given annually in recognition of those who give unselfishly
Angela Giles-Klocke, Mom of four and full-time freelancer,
is the publisher of The Writing Parent, an e-zine that focuses on helping
parents who write at home. In addition, she publishes several other
online and print newsletters, all dedicated to helping writers and parents.
The Writing Child, which she publishes with her oldest son, was created
to help children nurture a love for writing. Because of Angela's love of writing and her untiring efforts to recognize the unique writing challenges faced not only by Momwriters, but parent writers everywhere, we believe she deserves this very special award. Congratulations, Angela!
Remembering Kd . . .
When I began publishing and writing online some many months ago, I met someone who was a mentor to me and helped anytime I had a question. She was a wonderful writer, publisher and friend. Today, after a long battle, she left us and went home to God. When I opened my e-mail for the day, I was in shock to find the message that my online friend had passed on. What shocked me even more were the tears that immediately came to my eyes. Why? How can one mourn the passing of someone they never really knew? I questioned this all afternoon. Why was I crying? Could I really have cared about someone online that much? Yes, it was true . . . I did. Her name was Kd McIntosh. She was one of the most wonderful women I have ever met. She filled me with hope for my own career, laughter for my follies and friendship when I began dealing with my own illnesses. She put aside the fact that she was suffering to help me and so many others. She never let on how terribly bad she was hurting. She kept her chin up, looking onward for the best. She spoke nothing of sorrow for herself, just encouragement for her fellow writer, publisher and friends. She was a fighter. So many question why such wonderful people are taken from this world. There is no real answer. The only thing we can do is to remember all the good a person was. Their memory will always live inside of you even if you never really "met" them. Kd was one of those special people whose personality radiated from her simple words. I never knew what she looked like, never heard her voice, but I will never forget who she was and all she did for so many of us. Kd McIntosh . . . we love you and miss you. Dear reader . . . take time today to tell the ones you care about how much you care for them, even if you have never really met them. You never know how the unknown person will change your life just as Kd has helped shape mine. Written in memory of Kd - April 2000.
