Given annually in recognition of those who give unselfishly to help others learn the craft of writing.

I thought for a long time what those last 10 words mean to me. And when I thought of who gives their time so unselfishly, one name immediately came to mind.

Karen Hawkins.

Karen has been Momwriters web mistress for more 3 years. It was through her love, dedication and hard work that the Momwriters web site came into existence. It was her vision and giving spirit that turned a small site with humble beginnings into an award winning writer's website that has made top
honors 3 years in a row with Writer's Digest Magazine.

" . . . to help others learn the craft of writing."

I can't think of anyone who deserves this very special award more than Karen. We are truly blessed to have a web site packed full of so much valuable information, where we can go to find the answers to our easiest as well as most difficult writing questions. And a place where we can find camaraderie in this oftentimes solitary world of writing.

So, it is my honor to award Karen Hawkins the KD McIntosh Memorial Award 2002, with our utmost gratitude for her generous spirit, love and commitment to helping us all become better writers.
