On April 11, 2000, Momwriters lost a treasured member.
Momwriter KD McIntosh was a beautiful person who was loved by many.
Even when she became sick, she was there for so many of us. Her dear
friend, fellow Momwriter Chas Ridley, said it so well about KD:
"She always had time for people. Even after cancer had claimed
her body and made clear it wasn't going to give that body back to her,
she spent much of her time helping other writers, sharing what she had
learned or dug out during her Internet explorations. She liked encouraging
young writers -- whether they were young in years or young in experience.
She had patience some of us lack."
Each year, Momwriters honors a member who best embodies the spirit of
KD's love and generosity.
This year's recipient was voted for by her fellow Momwriters members
in each of the following categories: The Roar Award, Kumbuya Award,
The Bea Sheftel Award, Life Adjustment Award, Puts the Mom in Momwriters
Award and The Heart and Soul of the list Award.
This special Momwriter also heads up the Momwriters CrochetMoms. This
wonderful group makes comfort afghans for Momwriters and Momwriter kids
who need a bit of cheer and baby Blankets for our newest baby Momwriters.
Not only that, they provide crocheted and knitted hats, scarves and
toys for needy Momwriters Kids during the holidays.
Our recipient is always there with a virtual hug or encouragement and
support whenever someone needs it. She also works hard to care for the
needs of her family and is active in her community.
In the spirit of KD's generosity, it is my pleasure to announce this
year's KD McIntosh Memorial Award . . .
