Writer's Pocket Tax Guide - http://foolscap-quill.com/wptginfo.html

A message from your Breakroom Editor about Copyrights: There is so much information on the internet regarding copyrights, so I went looking to see if I could find a "one stop shopping center" with all of the information that you might need. What I found, is that there is no such thing! There is so much controversy going on right now, regarding copyrights and the internet, that the information is vague and hard to understand, especially that which I had the most interest in finding out.
This site is about the MYTHS that surround copyrights and the internet. And does a good job explaining what you can and can’t do: http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html

There is another great site, regarding whether or not you can use, borrow, or steal things off of another’s web site. It also covers how to go about linking to a site, and what to do if someone links to your site without permission. I found a lot of interesting information on this site, see what you think: http://www.patents.com/weblaw.sht.
What I really found out, is at this point in time, there is a lot of disagreement on what "copyright" means, how it is handled, and that the safest thing that you can do, if you want to "borrow" information from a web site is:
1) Contact the webmaster of the site and ask for EXPLICIT permission to use some part of their information.
2) Contact the webmaster of the site and ask if you can LINK to their site (this keeps you from accidentally
misstating what they said).
Good luck!
