Meet Momwriter
Denise Vitola has a full life. Mom to three and wife to be, she also has a menagerie of animals -- dog, cat and a cageful of finches. But there is one thing she has always made time for: writing. "I can't remember a time when I did not want to be a writer. I started writing seriously in eighth grade, and still have all of my early poems and stories." A published writer, Denise's first love is writing fiction, although she also enjoys writing personal essays. And if she couldn't write, what would be the next best thing to express herself creatively? "My second love is music, so I would probably sing. (I'm told I have a pretty good voice!)" Nickname: Don't have one, and I don't like to be called Dee. Hometown: Born in Trenton, NJ, grew up all over South Jersey-- Pleasantville, Northfield, Seaville. Favorite book: The Stand by Stephen King Favorite author: Stephen King, but I also like Anne Rivers Siddons, Michael Crichton, Susan Isaacs, Anne Lamott, I could keep going! Favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon: Read, which is my favorite thing to do any day of the week. Pet peeves: Racism, dishonesty, intolerance Last vacation: New Hampshire and Vermont in June Favorite quote: "It's all right to have butterflies in your stomach.
Just get them to fly in formation."--Dr. Rob Type of writing you enjoy the most: Writing fiction is the only thing that really transports me, but I enjoy writing personal essays, too. Favorite place in the whole world: The beach Hobbies (other than writing): Getting obsessed with a certain subject, learning all I possibly can about it, then getting bored with it and moving on to the next obsession. What do you want as your epitaph? "Beloved wife, beloved mother." That's really all that matters, isn't it?
