Meet Momwriter
Like most of us, Ginny Hermann made the decision to freelance at home after she and her husband, David started their family. The birth of Sara Grace made the decision final. "I just couldn't face being away from her while I was at work." Two and a half years later, with Molly added to the family, Ginny hasn't regretted her decision for a minute. A writer since the third grade and a communications major in college, Ginny suffers from the same office supply obsession most writers do: "I have always loved paper and pens . . . back to school was the best time of year because I could pick out any notebook I wanted." Nickname: My full name is Virginia, but everybody calls me Ginny. Hometown: Omaha, Nebraska Spouse: David Children: Sarah Grace (2 1/2 years) and Molly (11 months) Pets: Salem -- the coolest black and white "tuxedo" cat in the world. David and I think he is David Niven resurrected. If he was human, he'd always be dressed to the nines, carrying a martini and smoking a long, thin cigarette. Favorite book: A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving Favorite author: John Irving. Favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon: Summer: Hanging out watching movies drinking Margaritas. Winter: Hanging out watching movies drinking red wine. Biggest Accomplishment: Oh Gee...probably having the guts to try writing as a career. It was quite a leap of faith...in myself. Pet peeves: I have three: 1) Typos! 2) When someone doesn't close the cabinet doors in the kitchen. 3) That yucky dried glob that sticks to the mustard bottle. Last vacation: We just returned from a week in Northern Minnesota, land of the mosquito. Favorite quote: "Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. " Henry Ford (1863-1947) Type of writing you enjoy the most: The kind that pays! : ) Favorite place in the whole world: At home with my family. Hobbies (other than writing): Theater, movies, music, dining and reading. What do you want as your epitaph? She loved and laughed until the end.
